Abby Esquivel MSW, LCSW, RPT-S, ACS, EMDR CIT, Owner and Founder
Abby (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. She specializes in working with children, families, and women’s issues. Abby has ten years of experience working with women and child survivors of trauma, anxiety disorders, and attachment injuries. She is EMDR Certified and a Consultant in Training. Abby uses an attachment lens when working with children and adults. Some of the theories that inform her work include Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Polyvagal Theory, and Circle of Security. She interweaves EMDR and expressive therapies frequently and has a passion for helping people feel less alone and more connected to others. Prior to founding Be and Belong Counseling PLLC, Abby has experience providing services to runaway and homeless youth, adolescent girls in residential treatment, women residing in domestic violence shelters, and providing intensive in-home therapy to families formed through adoption. Abby also offers consultation and supervision to interns and clinicians working towards clinical licensure or their Registered Play Therapist credential as an Advanced Clinical Supervisor (ACS).
When not working, you can find Abby going on a family hike, doing yoga, or sipping a warm cup of tea at a local coffee shop. She enjoys all things chocolate, getting lost in a good book, and trips to the library with her husband and three children.
