Abby Esquivel MSW, LCSW, RPT-S, ACS, EMDR CIT, Owner and Founder
Abby (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. She specializes in working with children, teen girls, and women’s issues. Abby is a bicultural therapist and is specifically passionate about providing care to the Latinx community. She has ten years of experience working with women and child survivors of trauma, anxiety disorders, and attachment injuries. She is EMDR Certified and a Consultant in Training. Abby uses an attachment lens when working with children and adults. Some of the theories that inform her work include Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Polyvagal Theory, and she is a Circle of Security Parent Facilitator. She interweaves EMDR and expressive therapies frequently and has a passion for helping people feel less alone and more connected to others. Prior to founding Be and Belong Counseling PLLC, Abby has experience providing services to runaway and homeless youth, adolescent girls in residential treatment, women residing in domestic violence shelters, and providing intensive in-home therapy to families formed through adoption. Abby also offers consultation and supervision to interns and clinicians working towards clinical licensure or their Registered Play Therapist credential as an Advanced Clinical Supervisor (ACS). As the owner of Be and Belong, she is grateful every day for the team she gets to oversee, work with, and learn from.
When not working, you can find Abby going on a family hike, reading a good book, or sipping a warm cup of tea at a local coffee shop. She enjoys all things chocolate and trips to the library with her partner and three children.
