We take a brain-based therapeutic approach to empower people to regulate their own nervous systems through increasing self-compassion, mindfulness, and connection with their authentic self. Some other modalities we may incorporate include EMDR, art-based therapy, and sand tray therapy. From our perspective, we view anxiety as the brain and body’s powerful attempts to keep you safe. Even if the ‘logical brain’ knows it is safe, the ‘feeling brain’ FEELS terrified! By approaching that felt sense of anxiety with curiosity and non-judgment, we can begin to honor and respect how adaptive it has been for you, and then work towards lessening your uncomfortable symptoms.
