Inez Garcia, MSW
Inez (she/her) has a Master of Social Work and is currently working toward her licensure. She is bilingual, and is particularly passionate about providing the Latinx community with accessible mental health support. During her time at Be and Belong, she is hoping to work with folks of all ages and further develop her methods as a social worker. Inez’s lens toward counseling is trauma-informed and uses empathy as the baseline. She believes in meeting people where they are and helping them utilize their inherent resources. She has experience doing play therapy and utilizing systems theory, and is interested in exploring Internal Family Systems.
In addition to her work at Be and Belong, Inez also works with Head Start, a program that provides children and families with community support and resources. Prior to working at Head Start, she was the site coordinator for a program that provided students with tutoring and after-school enrichment. During both of these experiences, Inez has gained strong case management skills through helping Spanish-speaking families navigate many different challenges. When she’s not at work, she likes to read a good book, draw, and spend time with her 8-year-old daughter (doing everything from playing board games to walking their dog, Max, to going to the museum).
