John Piccone

Counseling Intern

John (he/him/his) is a counseling intern pursuing a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. John strives to create a space that provides trauma-informed, person-centered care to each individual, recognizing the inherent dignity and worth of each person. As a part of the LGBTQ+ community, John is passionate about working with this population, along with folks working through trauma.

John’s clinical approach pulls from a holistic, person-centered lens that takes into account the intricacies of each individual experience, recognizing that different approaches work for different people. John’s combines harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and internal family systems, to work collaboratively with folks towards their goals.

Prior to Be and Belong Counseling, John has several years of experience working at Community Mental Health Centers, primarily focused on working with clients experiencing homelessness.

Outside of work, you can find John outside in the sun! He enjoys hiking and exploring the mountains, and loves to be near any body of water. John also enjoys music, singing, and the arts, and is always happy to chat about any form of creative expression (but he loves musicals specifically!)..
