A Value for Accessibility

We believe that sound mental health care should be accessible to all, and we also recognize that is sadly not the case for many. Insurance companies can often be challenging for mental health practices to work with because of their data-driven policies that limit session times and require diagnoses that can dehumanize clients. While we do not ascribe to the medical model of mental health that has caused harm to certain populations, we recognize the benefit it brings in providing accessible mental health care and services to clients who choose to use it.

This value for accessibility is why we choose to accept certain insurance panels at the practice. We are also happy to accommodate Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and provide Superbills/receipts for those with out-of-network insurance plans. We also accept self-pay clients, so you are welcome to use or opt-out from using insurance at any time.

All sessions are 50-55 minutes in length for clients of all ages. Extended sessions are also available for a pro-rated fee. Due to insurance compliance policies, parent sessions are 30 minutes in length for clients using insurance.

Insurance

Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services. You are also welcome to check with our scheduling and billing team at info@beandbelongcounseling.org with any insurance or billing-related questions.

We recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

 • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

 • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

 • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

 • Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

Unfortunately, we do not accept Medicaid and due to Colorado legislation, we are unable to charge folks who have Medicaid as self-pay clients. There is, however, an exception for children and youth in foster care who have Medicaid to access mental health services outside of Medicaid. Read more here.

Cancellation Policy

The COVID-19 pandemic has sadly created a high demand for mental health services. As a result, we currently have a waitlist of 50+ clients. While we wish we could meet the needs of every person who comes our way, we are happy to redirect and refer you to our list of trusted friends who are similar in their therapeutic approaches and located locally. This high demand for mental health support is also why we have to be firm in our cancellation policy.

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 48 business hours beforehand. Otherwise, you will be charged for the full rate of the session, even if you are utilizing insurance to typically pay for sessions.

If you arrive to a session more than 15 minutes late, this is considered a late cancellation and the clinician reserves the right to cancel and charge for the full session. If you no show or late cancel your session three times in a row, the clinician also reserves the right to close your file and add you to the practice waitlist to accommodate the high demand of folks seeking mental health care.

We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards as forms of payment in addition to HSA (Health Savings Account) cards and EAPs (Employment Assistance Programs). We require credit card information to be on-file for all clients to account for insurance co-pays and any no show/late cancellation fees.
