Jacqui (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in supporting children, families, and adult women as they navigate their life journey. Jacqui takes a systemic approach in her work with clients and frequently has parents and siblings join play therapy sessions and promotes the fostering and support of a client’s relationships outside of the therapy room.
Jacqui believes that supporting healthy attachment is important and also incorporates relational neuroscience to help clients make sense of their behaviors and inner world. She is EMDR trained and utilizes this modality of therapy with both children and adults. She has experience working with clients struggling with anxiety, attachment, and trauma symptoms as well as kids diagnosed gifted and talented and adoptive families.
Jacqui taught preschool for many years and this informed her work in childhood mental health and play therapy. This experience helped her develop the ability to support children in their school environments through collaboration with school administration, and she is passionate about helping children build skills to support successful peer interactions, conflict resolution, and stress management.
Prior to joining Be and Belong Counseling, she provided in-home individual and family therapy to families affected by trauma. She understands the great challenges and benefits that accompany family therapy and enjoys helping families function in ways that support each individual and the family as a whole.
Jacqui has a great respect for all of her clients and believes it takes courage to begin therapy. She also believes that each client brings many strengths and works to build upon these throughout treatment.
In her free time, Jacqui enjoys being outdoors with her family, practicing yoga, and baking sweets. She has a background in teaching Bikram and children’s yoga and has found her own yoga practice to be healing for her mind, body, and soul. She believes that self-care is extremely important and works hard to incorporate this into her life, which can be difficult in the fast paced world we live in. She is an animal lover and has a Great Pyrenees at home who provides lots of furry snuggles.
