Megan McMahon

Master's Level Counseling Intern

Megan (she/her/hers) is a counseling intern pursuing a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) at the University of Denver. She is passionate about supporting children, young adults, and families in their process of regrowth or inner-strength reclamation. Megan aspires to provide a safe place for individuals to gain new perspectives and heal through strengths-based perspective.

Her therapeutic approach comes from evidence-based practices to complement person-centered trauma-informed care. She focuses on internal family systems, attachment-focused therapy, and play therapy to help individuals move forward even when life feels uncertain or uncomfortable. Megan’s approaches focus on mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and strengthening communication skills.

Megan’s previous experience consists of a year working as a victim advocate intern in a crisis center. She provided immediate emotional support to young women going through sexual assault exams as well as follow-ups and connected them with resources. She also has years of experience working with children, being a tutor for children on the spectrum. Since relocating from Florida to Denver for her Master’s Degree, she has gained experience as an intern at a primary school teaching a Social and Emotional Learning class, and as a mental health aide in classrooms. Outside of work and school, Megan enjoys cooking, going to car shows, and going to the movie theatre. She also enjoys music, sports, and being out in nature!
